Region 44 Nebraska COAD

COAD stands for Community Organizations Active in Disaster. COAD serves as an organizational network comprised of representatives from public, private, and not-for-profit agencies. COAD provides a network through which individual member agencies can more effectively fulfill their mission during all four phases of emergency management: mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery. The Region 44 COAD covers Boone, Merrick, and Nance counties in Nebraska.

The COAD assists in times of need by:

  • Sharing resources and information between organizations and individuals involved in response and recovery efforts.
  •  Recruiting more individuals/organizations into COAD to ensure that appropriate resources are available when a disaster occurs
  • Fostering cooperation between volunteers, organizations and first responder agencies.
  • Coordinating human services to reach the unmet needs of disaster survivors.
  • Receiving and distributing donated goods as needed.

How to participate in COAD

  1. Stay Informed: Sign up for the COAD email update including news and meeting alerts.
  2. Register as a Resource: Complete a Resource Registry Form to include how your organization can help after a disaster strikes.
  3. Become a Member: Attend meetings and vote on COAD issues.

COAD’s mission

is to enhance the community’s ability to mitigate, prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from large-scale disasters, thus ensuring that human needs in a disaster situation are evaluated and addressed.
