The County Clerk is also in charge of elections. The County Clerk shall have the powers and perform the duties assigned to the election commissioner except in those counties which have an election commissioner as provided by section 32-207 or 32-211.

How Local County Elections Work

Local county elections in the United States are administered through a highly decentralized process, with each state shaping its own election laws. Typically, a county official such as a county clerk, auditor, or commissioner of elections oversees the election process. Each county in the state of Nebraska administers elections to suit the needs of their citizens but also maintaining State and Federal election regulations and laws.

How Boone County Elections Work

Boone County is a Ballot-By-Mail County. Which means that all ballots will be mailed to registered voters in Boone County. All ballots are mailed 20 days before an election. Ballots can be returned by using the designated drop-box, located on the west side of the courthouse, returned ballots to the County Clerk’s office, and/or mailing them back to the County Clerk’s office. All ballots must be returned by the times polls close, which is 8 PM.

The Boone County Clerk ensures the safety of all elections. All elections done in Boone County adhere to State and Federal regulations.

Jury Duty Selection List

A Master Jury List is taken from driver’s license and the voter registration lists. Whether or not you are a registered voter, your name may be picked for jury duty through your drivers license. Whether or not you have a drivers license, your name may be picked for jury duty through the election registration.
