Military Personnel and Overseas Citizens
In addition to providing ballots for registered voters living within the county the Election Commissioner must provide ballots on a timely basis to Uniformed Services members and members of the U.S. Merchant Marines, their families and all U.S. citizens residing outside of the United States. Those voters are referred to as UOCAVA voters pursuant to the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) which is administered by the Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP), operating withing the Department of Defense.
Nebraska participates in the Federal Voting Assistance Program for our military personnel and overseas citizens.
