Voter Registration
In Nebraska, registration is required to be eligible to vote, the only exception is during Presidential elections. If you have recently moved to Nebraska or moved to another state after the registration deadline, then you may only vote a Presidential ballot.
Register to Vote!
Anyone that meets the following criteria may Register to Vote.
- A United States Citizen.
- A Current County Nebraska Resident.
- Will be 18 years of age or older by the General Election Day (first Tuesday in November).
- Has not been convicted of a felony or if convicted, civil rights have been restored.
- Has not been found to be mentally incompetent.
How Can I Register to Vote?
– You can register to vote by mail, Online, or through the DMV
– You can register to vote anytime in Nebraska; there is no waiting period to register to vote.
– You can register to vote the same day you become a Nebraska resident.
– You can also register to vote through the Department of Health and Human Services (Nebraska) and the State Department of Education (Nebraska)Â
– If this is your first time registering to vote in Nebraska, please provide a valid driver’s license and proof of address
– In order for the County Clerk’s office to accept your voter registration, it must be signed

Register to Vote by Mail
You can register by mail using the link labeled Voter Forms above on this page. You’ll simply download a Voter Registration form, fill it out, and return it to this office via mail.Â

Registration Deadline?
Mail-in registration must be postmarked on or before the third Friday before an election. You may register in person at the Election Commission by the second Friday prior to an election.
What Determines my Residence?
Residence shall mean (1) that place in which a person is actually domiciled, which is the residence of an individual or family, with which a person has a settled connection for the determination of his or her civil status or other legal purposes because it is actually or legally his or her permanent and principal home, and to which, whenever he or she is absent, has the intention of returning, (2) the place where a person has his or her family domiciled even if he or she does business in another place, and (3) if a person is homeless, the county in which the person is living. No person serving in the armed forces of the United States shall be deemed to have a residence in Nebraska because of being stationed in Nebraska. Those serving in the military or attending college in another area other than the County do not need to change their registration. However, any permanent change in your residence or address will require you to re-register to vote in that location.
Can a Student Register and Vote from a School Address?
Yes, you can decide to register and vote from either your school or home address. The County Clerk’s office can mail your ballot to your school/college’s address. For more information, please contact the County Clerk’s office.
Must I Designate a Party Affiliation?
– No, you can choose from a recognized party (Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, or Legal Marijuana NOW) or choose not to register to vote with recognized party by marking the “non-partisan” box on your voter registration form
– If you want to vote in the primary election, where the recognized parties select candidates for the General Election, you will need to select a party. After the primary, you can update your voter registration to non-partisan.
– If you do not register with a political party affiliation, you will receive a ballot for Senate and House congressional races
– Selecting a party does not affect the General Election, you can vote non-partisan in the General Election.

Do I Ever Need to Re-Register?
You must re-register whenever you change your name, address or political party.
Will I Receive Notification When My Registration Is Receive with the County Clerk?
Once the County Clerk’s office has reviewed and processed your voter registration, you will receive a notification card in the mail. This card will inform you of your voting precinct, political subdivision races.
